Youth Advisory Council
We at the GO Team are beyond excited to launch our search for members of the newly created GO Project Youth Advisory Council! Since the GO Project’s very first program in 2007, our staff have noticed the remarkable nature of the GO community; our programs have served to build a nationwide network of hundreds of bright, thoughtful, and socially-engaged young people eager to faithfully work for the betterment of our world.
For several months, our team has been considering and exploring ways in which we can ensure that our community’s shared passion, interest, and energy are not limited to the summer months, but continue to be enlivened throughout the year. Additionally, our team has been reflecting on how GO can continue to provide support and engagement to our vast network of alumni, beyond and outside of our regular programming. It is from these conversations that the GO Project Youth Advisory Council (YAC) was born.
The YAC will bring together former and current GO participants who are interested in sharing their wisdom, insight and creativity with our administrative team; throughout the year, members of the YAC will meet to discuss and consider the needs and desires of the young people who are at the center of GO’s mission, and strategize ways that the GO Project can more intentionally reflect the emotional, spiritual, and interpersonal lives of our participants. Our goal is to ensure that the GO Project’s summer programming reflects the vision that our unique community has for the World and for the Church, and that the most important stakeholders in our organization, our youth, have a seat at the table to offer input into our direction and decision-making.
Anyone interested in applying for a seat on the YAC is encouraged to read the application for more information regarding the specifics of the YAC’s vision and mandate. Any inquiries concerning the YAC or the application process can be directed to admin@thegoproject.ca.
