The Youth GO Project
Due to increasing concerns raised by COVID-19, we are working as a team to re-envision our summer youth programming for 2020.
We know that no matter what, we will offer exciting, life-giving and faith sustaining programs, in a virtual format.
Daily check-ins, nightly vespers, at home mission projects, social gatherings and discernment workshops will be an integral part of the plan no matter what!
What is it?!
Join us for a combination of virtual “live” sessions throughout the day as well as take-away activities focused on discernment, mission, personal growth and goal setting
Why virtual camp?
Because of increasing health concerns across the country, we cannot send staff traveling nor have participants sleeping overnight on locations and sharing sleeping spaces. Our compromise? Bringing the GO experience to your home!
What are the dates?
There are 3 sessions to choose from:
Session #1: June 28 – July 9
Session #2: July 12 – July 23
Session #3: July 26 – August 6
Session #4: August 16 – 27 – NEW! In depth Action Plan Program! Perfectly paired with sessions 1-3, or a former GO experience.
What will a day @ Virtual Camp look like?
- 10:30am – 12pm EST:
Morning Session (check-in, theme, mission project, discernment workshop, worship planning)
- 7pm – 8:30pm EST:
Evening Session (check-in, vespers, movie, discussion, game – you name it!)
Throughout the day there will be extra and optional activities for participants to work on, on their own or in small groups
What’s in it for you?
In addition to a life-changing experience you will receive 15 volunteer hours for school credit and a social justice training certificate for growth and resume!
Will we get to lead a service like a traditional GO program?
Yes! We will create a virtual worship service from each session and give them to various communities of faith across the country
Will we get to do service and mission projects?
Yes! It will need to be more creative in how we do that virtually – but we will work with our community partners for every program to bring missional experiences to our homes
What if I work and cannot get all that time off?
If you need to miss 2-3 sessions within a program session, that is okay! We are all busy and are balancing many things. If you cannot commit to more than the majority of the sessions though, we suggest that you take advantage of our weekly youth drop-in program, designed for teens who cannot commit to the full-length program
How much does it cost?
$250 for 12 days of programming
What are the ages?
Going into grade 8 to age 19
Financial Aid and Fundraising
We want every young person ages 13-19 interested in The GO Project to be able to attend. We do everything we can to make sure our programs are accessible and affordable. In the Resources drop-down menu is a page with further information about different pricing options, ideas for individual and group fundraisers, and bursaries available through the Vision Fund. Please contact us if money is a concern, and we will do everything we can to ensure your participation in The GO Project.
